 The foundation of our country 

Indigenous peoples (IP's) are the ones who built our country from the ground up. Before our colonizers came, they were already here, the land of which we are standing on is rightfully theirs, yet, they are the ones being discriminated, marginalized, by the people. 

The majority of Filipinos see IP's as lower than them, as second-class citizens, despite the fact that IP's are the original Filipinos. That is because their culture has been disregarded, and tossed aside, in favor of more westernized culture.

That is why with the help of The national indigenous peoples month, it can help Filipinos recognize the culture and significance of the ones who came before them. This event puts the IP's rich and diverse culture on full display, and a chance for their voices to be heard.
