The day of love or expectations?
First of all, Valentine's day started as a honorary day Saint Valentine, it was originally a feast linked to religion. But over the years it has been adapted by numerous cultures and has transformed into a celebration of love and romance. Just how much has this affected modern insight and beliefs?
The idea of a day celebrated on romance seems like a good idea at first, the idea of getting special treatment and special gifts for one day would make anyone like the holiday. But why do we need the holiday in the first place? Aside from it's religious roots, it has no value in today. Why do we need a special day to celebrate love? When love is not something to be rushed or bombed, love is continuous, love should be constant. When we need a special day to affirm our love, just how true is your affection? Valentine's promotes love bombing and the need for a grand gesture to show true romance, Which is no way to love somebody.
The day of hearts should not be the basis for love, love is a slow journey. It is a beautiful thing that should be valued as what it is, and not be put into one "special" day.
